How we are furthering the cause of Female Equity
International Women’s Day is in truth a celebration, however, we’re aware that in the social media space, the celebration can often become commercialism.
To avoid this, we would like to highlight the importance of acknowledging and challenging women's issues beyond IWD, not simply shouting about the cause on social media before it's forgotten about in a matter of days or weeks.
2023’s International Women's Day theme is #EmbraceEquity, aligned with the vision and goal of shining light on the benefits society can reap from providing equity as a whole to both women and men. Gender equity is something that could benefit the whole of society, not just women themselves.
Prowess Women in Business stated that ‘up to £250 billion of new value could be added to the UK economy if women started and scaled new businesses at the same rate as UK men’, however ‘only one in three UK entrepreneurs is female: a gender gap equivalent to 1.1 million missing businesses’. Just one example of the prevalent need for gender equality, particularly in the professional capacity.
Women continually face scrutiny from the moment we leave the door, whether that be towards; what we wear, what we say, how we act, what's expected from us, even how we’re paid or what roles we apparently can or cannot possess due to our gender.
Simply Business reported that ‘one in three female entrepreneurs have experienced sexism as a business owner’ and we’re certainly no different. As a female-founded, and female-focused agency, Flourish MGMT know how hard it can be for women in life and business. This is why we are committed to continually striving to level the playing field of gender equality by providing women with opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.
Our successful, all-female talent roster is a prime example of what can happen when women defy expectations and shine. One size, mould or template does not fit all, and our girls do an incredible job of promoting self-empowerment for women through the diversity they themselves possess, alongside the content they produce for their audience, not forgetting the professional success they achieve as a result.
Pip Wass, CEO and Founder, knows first-hand the struggles women face when starting their business. Now as a successful co-founder of a seven-figure agency, Pip provides support and mentoring to women at varying stages of their professional development. Career talks at schools and universities, mentoring for Virgin StartUps and paid internship opportunities at Flourish MGMT are just some of the ways in which Pip strives to give back and further the cause of female equity.
Founders Pip and Ian have ensured that female empowerment remains one of Flourish MGMT’s core values. As a company, we pride ourselves in telling the story of female empowerment. Not because it’s trending or it’s International Women's Day, but because it’s who we are, and we’re pretty damn proud of it too.
Happy International Women's Day!
